Last week, I visited Mori Point in Pacifica with my friend Hemanth to photograph the beautiful wildflower bloom. The flowers did not disappoint! There was an intense bloom of California Tidy Tips at the top of the cliffs. I read about Mori Point in the local paper and decided to check it out.

You have to take the Mori Point headland trail and then a short flight of stairs to get to the top of the bluffs. We decided to go on Thursday evening to avoid the crowds. This location can be very busy and parking is usually a hassle - a friend of mine attempted to visit the location on the weekend, traffic was so bad he abandoned the effort after an hour stuck on the streets.

Composition is a little challenging at the location since there isn't any background to speak of. You can use the rocks or the sunset to frame your shots. The day turned out to be fairly cloudy, not too much in terms of colors. Another interesting issue is that the wind is fairly strong at this location - the flowers are always moving, so you need a fast shutter speed to freeze them. I ended up jacking the ISO to 5000 to shoot my images at 1/400 to 1/600 th shutter speed. I had to apply noise correction in Lightroom to clean out some of the high ISO noise.

, this was a great location,

Overall this was a great location and I look forward to visiting again next year during spring.
