Anza Borrego desert state park is a California gem. Located east of San Diego it offers a variety of stunning options for photography enthusiasts. I visited Anza Borrego with some of my friends in the first week of April to shoot wildflowers and it definitely did not disappoint!
We landed in San Diego and rented a Jeep in the airport to drive to Anza Borrego. I would highly recommend to rent a 4x4, if you get stuck in any of the sandy side roads in the park you will need a four wheel drive to be able to get out.
We got to Anza Borrego later in the evening and decided to shoot sunset at the Clarke dry lake bed. The evening turned out to be extremely windy and it was quite challenging to shoot at the location. However my heavyweight Benro tripod did its job and I was able to get some great shots. We did not get the raging sunset I was hoping for, but we got some subtle beautiful colors. The Clarke dry lake bed is definitely a location to visit again!

My favorite shoot in the park was the sunrise shot at Font's point. We woke up early before sunrise and headed out to Font's point. We took directions from Google Map's, but for some reason Google Map's led us to a dead end at the town garbage dump. At this point I was nervous that we were going to miss sunrise. However Apple Maps rescued our day and gave us accurate directions to Font's point. Once you get off the main road, its about a 10-15 minute drive on a dirt road to get to the parking lot of Font's point.

The Sand verbana flowers and the cacti are absolutely gorgeous and there are so many opportunities for great compositions. I took out my macro and decided to do some close ups of the Sand verbana
